110 Documentation/ Sentence Level

  1. Document their work using appropriate conventions (MLA).
  2. Control sentence-level error (grammar, punctuation, and spelling).

Framing Statement C:

Learning Outcome Five and Six

Learning outcome five and six state: Students who complete English 110 should be able to Document their work using appropriate conventions (MLA) and control sentence-level error (grammar, punctuation, and spelling).

Throughout this class I learned techniques and pointers on how to correctly use MLA formatting and have better sentence-level error control. I learned that if there is something in a source that the author got from a different source, you have to cite that in your essay a certain way if you are using that idea. I also learned how to correctly cite a source for the works cited with the help of the “Little Seagull” book used in class.

Example: “Kelsey included that as of 2016, Facebook is the most browser-based social media platform that receives the most visits across PC and mobile combine (ctd. in Kelsey, 10)”.

“ Acquisti, Alessandro. What Will a Future Without Secrets Look Like?. TED Talks, Jun. 2013,

https://www.ted.com/talks/alessandro_acquisti_why_privacy_matters?language=en.

Accessed 27 Mar. 2018.”

These examples show my improvement in my Big Data project that I had explained above. I added the correct in-text citation and gave an example of a citation of a source I used in my paper that is represented on my Works Cited page.
