Framing Statement B

Learning Outcome Two

Learning outcome two states: Students who complete English 110 should be able to integrate their ideas with those of others using summary, paraphrase, quotation, analysis, and synthesis of relevant sources.

As this class progressed, I learned new and more efficient techniques to integrate, analyze, select and explain quotations from sources. I learned that in order to establish credibility you must give a background as to who the author of the source is. Without credibility, one’s reader may not take their paper very seriously. I also learned that there are times where quotations should be used and times that paraphrasing should be used. The main point that I focused on was integrating quotes and analyzing them the correct amount.

Example: “ Cukier goes on to compare how a disc found 4,000 years ago could hold a small amount of unchangeable data versus how much we can now fit ‘on a memory stick the size of a fingernail, and it can be shared at the speed of light’ (3:19). This is something that can be very useful worldwide today. We technically can do things that we never could do before (Cukier)”.

This example shows that I found a way to describe what he was talking about while integrating a direct quote right into the sentence. After the sentence is complete, I then went on to add my own comment and then bring in another idea that Cukier brought to his audiences attention.
